M is for monkey. We practiced our numbers from one to ten by hanging the monkeys on a clothesline. I found this game on the kidssoup website. I printed them off, laminated them, and added pipe cleaner tails. We will be doing this all during our zoo unit since monkeys are in the zoo. Kidssoup is a membership site which we belong to. I love that her learning files are down loadable and printable. It has a variety of preschool learning topics and new ideas are added to monthly. It is well worth the money and we have enjoyed the activities/games it has.
This is another game I found on the kidssoup website. J would pick a number and add gummy strawberries to the monkey. I would have used the bananas from Runt candies but we don't have Runts here so we used the next best thing - gummy strawberries. I am not sure monkeys eat strawberries but we ate them when we were done with our counting game.
J has taken such an interest in animals that I pulled out the animals flashcards that I found in the states. We looked at them all and then began to separate them into farm animals, zoo animals, ocean animals, and insects. The other day, we were at the school library and J was looking through an animal book. She ran to show me a blue tongued skink and proceeded to tell me that when the skink feels freatened (threatened) that it sticks the blue tongue out to scare the predators. This she learned from Jeff Corwin DVDs that she continues to ask to watch, even though we have seen them all. She loves them and has leaned a lot about animals watching them.
Here J is working on her M sound lacing pocket which can be found at Making Learning Fun. She is coloring the m words and then she will cut them out and add them to the monkey pocket.
We played with play dough.
M is for snow white Mittens. These mittens were made by Grandma at the request of J. She wanted snow white mittens like those mittens of Nikki in The Mitten book by Jan Brett. We recently received them from a friend who was visiting. She loves them and insists on wearing them around the house since we don't have any snow at the moment.
We finally finished our Mitten lapbook based on Jan Brett's book. I thought I would share it with you.
