Tot Tuesday

One of Riley's favorite places in this house is our makeshift pantry. It is a small cabinet in our kitchen that I store our canned goods in.  Then he wonders why his toes hurt when they fall!

Riley thinks that these cans are building blocks and he makes towers from them. Then he wonders why his toes hurt when they fall! He likes to remove each and every can, rolling them this way and that.

He realized that he could fit inside of the cabinet if all of the goods were out. Also, I learned that if I am looking for his cup - it is most likely in there:) What a cutie!

Tot Tuesday

The other day I kept hearing the clanging of my canned food. I was sure that Riley was in the makeshift pantry again, so I investigated and this is what I found....

He was shopping....a few cans here...a few cans there...

Maybe he will make dinner....here's hoping:)

Blog Break

Things have been a little hectic these past few weeks. We decided to get our house back that we have been renting and it was a mess! The agency renting it as well as the renter did NOT take care of it. So now, we have many repairs before we can move. After the disappointment and shock, we are working hard to repair, paint, and move in the next few weeks. Please bear with me as we transition into the next phase of our life adventure:) See you soon.

Tot Tuesday

Riley was quiet....that should have told me that he was up to something. I found him in the living room, helping himself to the tissues.

It was a full box, as you can tell.

Uh-oh, you caught me! I still had a few more to go.... Have a great day.

Jesus Rejected

Our lesson this week from Telling God's Story Book 1 was Jesus being rejected by his hometown.

J began the lesson with the coloring sheet. She truly loves this activity and take her time to complete it. While she is coloring, I always read her the passage from he bible and discuss the lesson.

One of the activities of the week was to make a toolbox from wood and such. Since I am not that handy and didn't think to buy a tool box making kit, we went the paper route. She created a tool box from Bible Fun for Kids (link below).

Her completed paper tool box - cute. We added it to her Bible notebook. A simple lesson for a rough week. I love how adaptable this curriculum is...you can add extra items if you would like or you can let the lesson stand alone. It all depends on you and how much time you have. Not too bad of a week. Hope your week is going well. See you soon.

American Artists - Grandma Moses

We are loving our walk through American Artists while we study American History. To do this, we are using Great American Artists for Kids as the backbone of our art education. Our artist of the week was Grandma Moses. We have studied her before but we still enjoyed learning about her art.

We always start our lesson by reading any books that I can fins from the library or in my own collection about the artist. J then completes an artist page for her notebook.

I showed J a few ideas of projects for Grandma Moses and she chose the winter landscape (or should I call it a lambscape - as Grandma called them when she was a little girl). She decided to use card stock as her paper and oil pastels.

She first drew the sledding scene with pencils and colored it with her oil pastels. After, she colored it, she used white paint and a q-tip to paint snowflakes on her art work.

Her final folk art picture. I love how she drew a hibernating rabbit who was keeping out of the cold underground along with his carrot lunch! Love this! Have an awesome day.

Tot Tuesday

My munchkin was playing around in the laundry basket. I just had to take a few pictures.

I love this little boy!
