Week 34....and counting. It is going pretty fast for us and we have a million things to do before we leave for 'Merica. We have started to read extra each day in order to have a light last week of school. My DD will be graduating, we have a friend coming to visit, and there is a formal dance so it promises to be a busy one. So, if we can finish somewhat early, it will be a blessing. This week, we read Cappyboppy by Bill Peet. J enjoyed this book even though I had read it to her last year. We started learning about jungles and continued reading about the planets. J is reviewing her math on the iPad using several Kindergarten math apps and we are still working on our reading program. Here are a few things we did this week.
J working on math review using Teach Me Kindergarten app.
J worked on her reading blends using free worksheets that I found from More Than Math by Mo.
She is solving the cryptogram and reading the mystery message from AB Seymour's TPT shop.
More blends practice. She has grown so much in her reading. I am so proud of her. This is also from the freebie from More Than Math by Mo. We are still working on our countdown to summer and are anxiously awaiting our upcoming trip. Hope you had a great week enjoying the sunny days! See you soon.
This will be a place to share details of my life, my homeschooling, and my crafts in a foreign country.

Blast Off To Summer - I
We are still working through our count down to summer. We are now on the letter I...I is for.....
J cut bananas so they could make an ice cream sundae.
Yum.
Then I gave them paint and had them make an ice cream cone picture. I was hoping to do this with shaving cream paint but no shaving cream :( So they just painted with water color.
I Spy, Inch Worms, and Ice Cream
This book is great to exercise your mind. You have to find the items in the riddles, some of them were hard to find, even for me.
My mom bought us Kate Toms series of books and we just love the stories and the pictures. Thanks, mom!
This is a great math book - an inch worm measuring everything. I had planned on working in some measuring activities but the ice cream seemed to be enough.
We worked through the I Spy book together. These are truly fun.
J cut bananas so they could make an ice cream sundae.
Kaleb added his own topping. I had to reign him in some, I think he would have used the whole bottle of caramel sauce!
Yum.
As J ate her ice cream, we worked on a free ice cream writing paper from Amy Lemons. It was working with similes and metaphors. Ice cream is as cold as.... I just asked her to finish the sentence. I wasn't really worried with metaphors and such.
Then I gave them paint and had them make an ice cream cone picture. I was hoping to do this with shaving cream paint but no shaving cream :( So they just painted with water color.
J added a red pom pom for a cherry and I is for ice cream is done. Moving on....

Blast Off To Summer - H
Blast of to Summer count down still working....H is for....
Hopscotch, Heroes and Home
After reading Franklin and the Hero, J and Kaleb made paper super heroes.
J practiced her time skills while we read Hickory, Dickory Dock. This book is great for practicing telling time and it is a super cute story as well.
Then we played hopscotch with some foam numbers. They were somewhat small but we managed. Off to I....

Tot Tuesday
My future's so bright I gotta wear shades.....(sorry for the 80's reference).
Kaleb was running around the school room wearing these....glasses from a Mr. Potato Head.
I think he is ready for summer. I know I am.

Blast Off To Summer - G
We are now on the letter G in our Blast Off To Summer Series.
G is for....
G is for....
Gardens, Games and Goats
A classic tear jerker about a tree who loves a child and gives everything that it has to make him happy.
This book shows the different seeds and the veggies that they grow. Children plant and work their garden, then have a party with the veggies that they grew themselves.
A new take on the three billy goats story. This is part of a series and I believe has some merit. The goats work together to find a way across the bridge.
J and Kaleb played some games. First, they worked the farm sewing cards that we own (and I haven't packed yet).
J and I played the Hungry Caterpillar matching game with Kaleb's help. We also played Uno, checkers, and more Floorball. Still counting down....

Sonlight Week 33
Three more weeks left, is it possible? We started and finished One Grain of Rice by and Five True Dog Stories. We read about different planets in space and started learning about Rain forests. It has been so nice to work towards the final weeks, I all most feel like it is summer ;)
Since J finished her math workbook, I have had her reviewing different concepts that she needs to work on - money, telling time, etc.... One of her favorite math times is when I allow her to work on the iPad. Here she is working on a kindergarten math program that seems just too easy for her, I think I will upgrade to the first grade one.
J worked on ABC order, just on the first letter of these color words. I can't seem to find the color word worksheet but I did find one for summer - free from More Than Math By Mo TPT store. (Look around, she has a few more ABC order freebies.)
She continues to work on her Explode the Code Book 2. I am hoping to have it finished by the that last week of school.
J is working on writing sentences with words form her reading program. Each day, I give her a word that we have been working on and ask her to write an original sentence for that word. Hope you are enjoying the summer weather. I know I would be happier if my klima was working. But I am reminded that there are only a few more weeks left. See you next week.

Caught You Reading!
I was working in the kitchen when I realized that I hadn't heard the kids lately. I had to find where they were cause, you know, quiet kids mean trouble. To my surprise, I found J reading to Kaleb. READING...actually sounding out the words and reading. I was so proud ;)
Loved it...keep at it J!

Blast Off To Summer - F
We are now on the letter F in our countdown to summer. F is for .....
Things That Fly, Fireflies, Floorball
Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert
This book is amazing. I love the pictures. It is just begging to be used for a bird unit. It is a book about a cat who is trying to "catch" lunch and all of the birds he just misses. Each page has a different bird on it and in the back, there is information on each bird found in the book. One of my personal favorites.
Fireflies in the Night by Judy Hawes
These Science books are great for mini units and this one is no exception. It teaches about fireflies. We are excited to see the fireflies in my parents' yard this summer so this will be a great reminder of what is ahead.
After reading about fireflies, J and Kaleb made a firefly from construction paper and tissue paper.
I drew the firefly template myself. J requested moving wings so we used a brad to attach the wings to the body.

Tot Tuesday
The other night, I was trying to make dinner with my DD Keke. We were having breakfast for dinner and we were in the middle of making a breakfast casserole with bread. Luckily, my DH bought 2 loaves of bread because small mouse decided to help himself.
Maybe if I lick it, no one will notice....
If you look carefully, he has dug a hole right in the bread, eating the inside.
He thought it was funny, of course. He ate a the whole half of loaf and my DH was wondering why he didn't want any dinner ;)
