Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert
This book is amazing. I love the pictures. It is just begging to be used for a bird unit. It is a book about a cat who is trying to "catch" lunch and all of the birds he just misses. Each page has a different bird on it and in the back, there is information on each bird found in the book. One of my personal favorites.
Fireflies in the Night by Judy Hawes
These Science books are great for mini units and this one is no exception. It teaches about fireflies. We are excited to see the fireflies in my parents' yard this summer so this will be a great reminder of what is ahead.
After reading about fireflies, J and Kaleb made a firefly from construction paper and tissue paper.
I drew the firefly template myself. J requested moving wings so we used a brad to attach the wings to the body.
