This is our final day of our Twelve Days of Christmas unit based on this book by Helen Haidle. We finished mini books and bag book and used this day to put it all together.
If you downloaded my free printable to go along with our unit, then you would have found this printable banner. Sorry about all of the books - a homeschooler's life - you know!
Here's a close up of the banner. It was hard to photograph complete because it was so long. J colored each day and we taped it to a string. I love it.
The front of Kaleb's bag book. I used one rubber band and a popsicle stick to bind the book. I hole punched two holes and placed the rubber band in locking the stick in place.
The inside of Kaleb's bag book. You can see the open page with the added coloring sheets. Everything he completed for each day was placed in each pocket. It is a pretty thick book but I think it turned out great.
J's completed lap book. We used two large file folders taped together in the middle. She colored a page for the cover as well as one of the hearts from my free printable.
The opened left side of her lap book. We tried to group each day together when possible so it wouldn't be too muddled.
The right hand of the lap book.
We had so many mini books and such that we had to add two flip up pages.
Lastly, the middle of the lap book. Lots of work here but definitely worth it.
Our finished Twelve Days of Christmas tree - yay! Every ornament that the kids made for each of the days of Christmas. Most of Kaleb's will fit in his bag book when it is time to take it down. J's will have to be stored elsewhere. But she is happy that when it is time for her to have her own tree, she will have a set of handmade ornaments for it. I love that!
This was a difficult study to put together but I am definitely glad that I pushed through and finished it. The difficulty wasn't finding the lap book pieces or coloring sheets but finding ornament patterns that each of the children could do as well as finding items to go-along with each day for Kaleb's bag book. But it worked out in the end and the kids enjoyed and learned so much. Even though the meaning behind the song is considered a legend, it was a great learning experience for both of them. Thanks for reading along. I hope that these posts encourage you to try a Christmas Bible study one day as well. Have an awesome holiday. See you next year.

This was a great study to follow along with. I just had a baby and am catching up on all your posts. I'm not as quick as you with getting everything going again after I have a baby. 😀
ReplyDeleteI promise it wasn't quick. It is hard to get things going again after a baby, don't stress. Enjoy that new bundle of joy:)
