State Study - Ohio

As part of our American History studies, we are also learning the states. We learn about one new state each week. This week, we learned about Ohio.

We always try to start our state study with a review of the states and capitals. I made this simple matching game using cards from the Dollar Store.

I found this map from the Target Dollar Spot. J colors each state in as she learns about it. If the state has a landmark, she will draw it and add it where it belongs.

J learned that Ohio is the only state with a motto from the Bible. "With God, all things are possible." Pretty neat:)

One special activity for the state was the box we received when I participated in a state exchange program. We received several items from the state. We learned more about Ohio with this hands-on package. It contained some craft items and fun things to read about and do. J loves to hear that I have a state box for her to investigate.

As part of her notebook pages, she drew and colored the state flower. She always tries to add a drawing of some item pertaining to the state to her pages. Not a shabby state study if I may say. Hope your week is going well, see you soon.
